How to get to Mt. Hope Farm

By Car: Williamstown is at the junction of routes 2 and 7 in western Massachusetts at the northern end of Berkshire County. Driving time is less than an hour from the Massachusetts Turnpike, Interstate 91, and the New York State Thruway and Northway (Interstates 90 and 87, respectively). Driving time from Burlington (Vermont), Boston, New Haven, or New York is approximately three hours. The Williams campus is located in the center of Williamstown along Route 2 (Main Street), and spans 450 beautifully landscaped acres. Mt. Hope Farm is located approximately 2.5 miles south of campus.

From Boston and points east:
Take Route 2 west all the way to Williamstown;
Go straight through the traffic light at Cole Avenue;
Turn left onto Route 43 (Water Street)
Follow Route 43 for 2.25 miles, where you will see a sign on the left indicating Mt. Hope Park: Do not turn here;
Continue straight for another 200 yards until you see a sign on the right had side marked "Mt. Hope Farm";
Turn left at the sign, pass between the stone pillars, and go straight across the bridge;
Continue one mile up the driveway;
Elm Tree House is a large, red-brick structure.

Take the Mass Pike (I-90) west to the Lee exit (exit 2);
Take Route 20 west to Route 7 north;
Follow Route 7 into Williamstown;
At the blinking light bear right onto Route 43;
Continue on Route 43 for 2.5 miles until you see a white sign on the left hand side marked "Mt. Hope Farm";
Turn right at the sign, pass between the stone pillars, and go straight across the bridge;
Continue one mile up the driveway;
Elm Tree House is a large, red-brick structure.

From Albany, NY, and points west:
Take Route 7 east to Route 278;
Turn right on Rt. 278 to Route 2;
Turn left on Route 2 east (Main Street);
Pass Spring Street on the right;
Turn right on Route 43 (Water Street);

Follow Route 43 for 2.25 miles, where you will see a sign on the left indicating Mt. Hope Park: Do not turn here;
Continue straight for another 200 yards until you see a sign on the right had side marked "Mt. Hope Farm";
Turn left at the sign, pass between the stone pillars, and go straight across the bridge;
Continue one mile up the driveway;
Elm Tree House is a large, red-brick structure.

From New York City and points south:
Take I-87 north to I-84 east;
Take I-84 east to the Taconic Parkway north;
Take the Taconic Parkway north to Route 295 east;
Take Route 295 east to Route 22 north;
Take Route 22 north to Route 43 east;
Follow Route 43 into Williamstown, and continue straight through the blinking light at the intersection with Route 7;
Continue on Route 43 for 2.5 miles until you see a white sign on the left hand side marked "Mt. Hope Farm";
Turn right at the sign, pass between the stone pillars, and go straight across the bridge;
Continue one mile up the driveway;
Elm Tree House is a large, red-brick structure.

From Bennington, VT, and points north:
Take Route 7 south to Route 2;
Turn left on Route 2 east (Main Street);
Pass Spring Street on the right;
Turn right on Route 43 (Water Street);

By Plane: The nearest major airport is in Albany, NY, about 40 miles from Williamstown. Bradley Airport in Hartford, CT is approximately 80 miles away. Transportation from the airport is by rental car, taxi, or limousine service. Arrangements for rental cars should be made before arrival with Hertz, National, or Avis.
By Limousine / Taxi Service from Albany: Visitors may take a taxi or arrange transportation in advance by calling Norm's Limousine Service (800-486-4946 or 413-663-8300/6284) or Luxury Limo at (413-458-9414). Norm's charges $63 each way for one or two people and $5 for each additional person included in one reservation (additional charge before 6 a.m. and after 10 p.m.) The Airport Limo Service/Yellow Cab at the Albany Airport (518-869-2258/2259) charges $70 for a taxi trip to campus.
